Aliphatic TPU for Transparent & Optical Parts | Clear, Non-Yellowing, Impact-Resistant
Aliphatic TPU – Transparent & Optical Parts
Aliphatic TPU grades for transparent and optical parts, combining high clarity, non-yellowing performance and
impact resistance. Suitable for injection-molded covers, lenses, protective housings and transparent functional
components where aesthetics and long-term outdoor stability are important.

Non-Yellowing
Impact Resistant
Low Haze
Shore 80A–45D
Applications
Aliphatic TPU Optical Series is used where transparency, toughness and non-yellowing are required:
- Protective lens covers for lighting, sensors and indicators.
- Transparent housings and windows for devices and instruments.
- Soft optical bezels and overmolded clear buttons on electronics.
- Clear functional components that need impact resistance and flexibility.

Typical Grades for Transparent & Optical Parts
| Grade | Hardness | Key Performance | Processing | Typical Use |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| TPU-ALP Optical 80A | 80A | Very high clarity, flexible, low haze | Injection molding | Soft clear covers, flexible windows |
| TPU-ALP Optical 90A | 90A | Balanced stiffness, transparency, impact resistance | Injection molding | Transparent housings, lens covers |
| TPU-ALP Optical 40D | 40D | Higher modulus, dimensional stability, low haze | Injection molding / thin sheet | Optical-grade panels, rigid clear parts |
| TPU-ALP Optical Overmold | 85A | Adhesion to PC/ABS, transparent, soft-touch | 2-shot / insert overmolding | Clear buttons, optical bezels, grip areas |
Note: Optical performance depends on molding conditions, part thickness and tool design.
We can support molding window optimization to minimize haze and flow marks.
Key Advantages
- Aliphatic backbone for non-yellowing performance under sunlight and UV exposure.
- High transparency and low haze for clear covers, windows and lenses.
- Impact and chip resistance superior to many rigid transparent plastics.
- Soft, flexible options for parts that must absorb shock or seal against other components.
- Overmolding grades that bond to PC/ABS while remaining clear and soft-touch.

Processing & Recommendations
To achieve the best optical quality, we recommend:
- Drying the pellets at 80 °C for 3–4 hours to control moisture and bubbles.
- Injection melt temperature typically 190–220 °C, adjusted by hardness and part thickness.
- Using polished or highly polished mold surfaces to minimize flow marks and haze.
- Optimizing gate design and flow path to avoid weld lines in critical optical zones.
- For overmolding grades, matching substrate and TPU processing windows to ensure bonding and clarity.
