Applications
These aliphatic TPU films are designed as clear surface protection layers:
- Automotive paint protection films (PPF) – full-body or partial protection for car body panels.
- Surface protection for high-gloss plastics – PC, ABS and PMMA components in automotive and electronics.
- Decorated and printed film protection – clear top layers over decorative or printed substrates.
- General-purpose protective films – scratch and impact protection for panels, displays and covers.

Typical Grades for PPF & Protection Film
| Grade | Hardness | Key Performance | Processing | Typical Use |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| TPU-ALP PPF 90A | 90A | High clarity, stone-chip resistance, UV stability | Flat-die / cast film | Automotive paint protection films |
| TPU-ALP PPF 40D | 40D | Higher modulus, impact resistance, dimensional stability | Flat-die film | Thicker PPF and heavy-duty surface protection films |
| TPU-ALP PPF Matte 90A | 90A | Matte / satin appearance, anti-glare, non-yellowing | Flat-die / cast film | Matte PPF and decorative protection films |
| TPU-ALP PPF SH 90A | 90A | Self-healing surface, scratch recovery under heat | Flat-die / cast film | Premium automotive PPF |
Note: These are representative grades.
Final selection depends on film thickness, surface coating system and target performance (chip, scratch, self-healing behavior).
Key Advantages
- High optical clarity to preserve the original color and gloss of the substrate.
- Non-yellowing aliphatic backbone for long-term outdoor use on vehicles and exposed surfaces.
- Excellent chip and impact resistance against stone chips and road debris.
- Scratch and mar resistance, optionally with self-healing under heat or sunlight.
- Good conformability to complex curves when installed on 3D surfaces.

Processing & Recommendations
These aliphatic TPU grades are designed for high-quality PPF and protection film production:
- Film extrusion: flat-die or cast film lines with recommended melt temperature 190–220 °C.
- Drying: 80 °C × 2–3 hours before extrusion to control haze, gels and surface defects.
- Surface preparation: corona or plasma treatment to improve adhesion of top coatings and adhesives.
- Coating compatibility: suitable as the base layer for hard coats, anti-fouling coatings and adhesive systems.
- Installation performance: designed for good stretching and recovery during PPF installation on 3D curves.
