Polyether TPU Belt Grades | Conveyor & Timing Belts with Hydrolysis Resistance
Polyether TPU Belt Material
Polyether-based TPU compounds designed for conveyor belts, timing belts and flat belts that require hydrolysis resistance, abrasion performance and flex fatigue under repeated bending.
Suitable for belt applications in humid, wash-down and outdoor environments.
Typical uses include light-duty and medium-duty conveyor belts, synchronous timing belts, profile and cleated belts, as well as coated belts for packaging and logistics systems.

Hydrolysis Resistant
High Abrasion Resistance
Flex Fatigue
Shore 85A–45D
Where These Belt Grades Are Used
Polyether TPU belt compounds are typically used in:
- Conveyor and process belts – thin TPU cover layers on fabric-reinforced conveyor belts
- Timing and synchronous belts – molded or extruded teeth for power transmission and indexing
- Profile and cleated belts – welded TPU profiles for inclined conveying and positioning
- Coated belts for packaging and logistics – soft TPU cover for grip and wear resistance
Compared with PVC and some rubber solutions, polyether TPU belt covers provide better cut and abrasion resistance, more stable mechanical properties in humid and wash-down areas, and can be welded or fused for endless belt fabrication.

Typical Polyether TPU Belt Grades
| Grade | Hardness | Key Performance | Processing | Typical Use |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Polyether TPU Belt 85A | 85A | Soft cover, good grip, hydrolysis resistance | Extrusion / Coating | Light-duty conveyor belt covers, grip belts |
| Polyether TPU Belt 90A | 90A | Balanced hardness and wear resistance | Extrusion / Film | General process belts, welded profiles |
| Polyether TPU Belt 45D | 45D | High stiffness, abrasion and cut resistance | Extrusion / Injection | Timing belts, high-load conveyor segments |
Note: Grades and hardness are for reference. Food-contact, antistatic and color-matched versions can be developed according to belt design and industry regulations.
Key Advantages of Polyether TPU for Belts

- Hydrolysis resistance – maintains properties in humid and wash-down conditions
- High abrasion and cut resistance – extends belt life under continuous sliding and impact
- Flex fatigue performance – suitable for small pulley diameters and frequent cycles
- Thermoplastic weldability – enables endless belt fabrication and on-site joining
- Good surface aesthetics – smooth or textured surfaces for grip, guiding and easy cleaning
Processing & Recommendations
These polyether TPU grades are used for belt cover extrusion, film calendering and molding of profiles or teeth.
- Drying: typically 80–90 °C for 2–3 hours before processing
- Melt temperature: around 180–210 °C depending on hardness and process
- Extrusion / coating: suitable for coating textile fabrics or forming TPU films as belt covers
- Joining: compatible with hot air welding, heating press and profile welding for endless belts
Chemdo can support belt producers with grade selection and general recommendations for belt cover thickness, adhesion to fabric and welding conditions.
