TPE Overmolding on PA6 / PA66 | High-Bond Strength Compounds
TPE Overmolding on PA6 / PA66
High-adhesion TPE-S compounds developed for overmolding on PA6 and PA66 substrates, combining strong bonding,
mechanical strength and controlled grip for industrial handles, power tools and structural components.
These grades are tailored for 2-shot and insert molding onto glass-filled and unfilled PA, providing fatigue
resistance and durability in demanding environments.

High Strength
Fatigue Resistant
Industrial Grips
Shore 60A–90A
Applications
- Industrial and machine handles – reinforced PA cores with TPE grip zones.
- Power tools and garden tools – high-load handles and control areas on PA bodies.
- Mechanical levers and knobs – PA levers with overmolded grip surfaces.
- Structural brackets and clamps – TPE pads on PA parts to reduce noise and vibration.

Typical Grades
| Grade | Hardness | Key Performance | Processing | Typical Use |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| TPE-PA 65A Grip | 65A | Strong adhesion to PA6/PA66, flexible grip, good fatigue resistance | Injection (2-shot / insert) | Machine handles, control grips |
| TPE-PA 75A Tough | 75A | Higher tensile and tear strength, abrasion resistance | Injection (2-shot) | Power tool grips, structural levers |
| TPE-PA 85A Firm | 85A | Firm support, edge and contact pads, high load capability | Injection | Brackets, clamps, anti-vibration pads |
| TPE-PA 90A High Bond | 90A | Very strong bonding to PA, high stiffness and wear resistance | Injection | Heavy-duty industrial grips and supports |
Note: Data for reference. Final adhesion depends on PA grade (GF content, moisture level) and molding parameters.
Key Advantages
- High bonding strength to PA6 and PA66, including many glass-filled grades.
- Mechanical robustness for structural grips and load-bearing contact areas.
- Good fatigue performance under repeated loading and vibration.
- Stable performance in elevated temperatures and industrial environments.
- Selectable friction level for firm or easier sliding contact surfaces.

Customization Options
- Hardness: Shore 60A–90A for grips, pads and structural supports.
- Adhesion package: tuned for PA6, PA66 and selected glass-filled PA grades.
- Friction control: high-friction grip surfaces or lower-friction sliding pads.
- Color options: industrial dark tones, safety colors or custom brand colors.
- Heat and aging performance optimized for industrial or under-hood style use.
- Recipe tuning for specific test standards (peel, shear, fatigue, temperature cycling).
Processing & Recommendations
- Dry TPE compounds at 70–80 °C for 2–3 hours before molding.
- Ensure PA6/PA66 substrates are properly dried according to supplier recommendations.
- Typical TPE melt temperature: 190–220 °C, depending on grade.
- For 2-shot molding, minimize time between PA shot and TPE overmold to keep the interface hot.
- Avoid mold-release agents and contamination on PA bonding surfaces.
- Perform peel or shear tests on trial parts to confirm bonding strength under your process window.
Target Markets
- Producers of industrial and machine handles based on PA cores.
- Power tool and garden tool manufacturers using PA6/PA66 housings.
- Suppliers of PA levers, brackets and clamps with grip or damping zones.
- OEMs shifting from rubber or TPV to TPE overmolding on PA substrates.
