Market News | All 16 Varieties Including PP, PE & ABS Rallied in July; Chimei/Rongsheng Cut ABS Ex-Factory Prices by RMB 300/MT; Spot Mixed Today!

July Overview

Chemical feedstocks saw broad-based rallies in July led by petrochemical bulk commodities. Key feedstocks such as styrene, bisphenol A, pure benzene and butadiene, as well as core PU raw materials, posted gains above 15%. Bromine, aromatics and alcohols also trended higher.

Rubber & plastic products staged a collective rebound. Among the 18 tracked varieties, 16 registered price hikes: PP raffia, LLDPE and LDPE rose over 12%, ABS climbed 10.75% and PS gained 10.43%, with all general-purpose plastics surging.

August 3 Market Update

With potential further escalation of US-Iran tensions, Brent and WTI crude oil plunged more than 6% in early trading on August 3. Domestic energy and chemical markets followed suit with broad declines:

  • · Crude oil: -3.58%
  • · Pure benzene: -1.27%
  • · Styrene: -0.99%
  • · PVC: -0.63%
  • · Propylene: -0.60%
  • · Staple fiber: -0.57% PP, PET bottle chips and other plastics also fell to varying degrees.

Spot Market

Zhenjiang Chimei and Rongsheng Petrochemical slashed their ABS ex-factory prices by RMB 300 per metric ton, leaving the overall ABS spot market mixed. Weaker macro support weighed on PC prices; some domestic PC producers cut offers by RMB 200/MT, and PC spot traded range-bound with a soft bias.
