Prices Surge Over 2,300 Yuan! LG Chem, Lotte Chemical, Dow and Other Giants Announce Price Hikes!

According to customer notices from the South Korean market and industry sources, major South Korean petrochemical firms including LG Chem, Lotte Chemical, and Hanwha Chemical plan to raise prices of some PE, PP, EVA, POE and other products starting May 1, 2026. Previously, major South Korean petrochemical companies had issued price increase notifications to customers since March, mainly driven by geopolitical risks in the Middle East and rising costs of feedstocks such as naphtha and ethylene.

LG Chem

Citing a sharp rise in manufacturing costs and international prices, LG Chem will adjust prices of the following product categories effective May 1:

  • LDPE/HDPE/LLDPE/PP/EVA: up by KRW 400,000 per ton (approx. RMB 1,880/ton)
  • POE: up by KRW 500,000 per ton (approx. RMB 2,350/ton)
  • Medical-grade LDPE and mLLDPE: up by KRW 300,000 per ton (approx. RMB 1,410/ton)

Lotte Chemical

Will raise prices of PE product lines by KRW 400,000 per ton (approx. RMB 1,880/ton) starting May 1.

Hanwha Chemical

Will increase prices of PE product lines by KRW 300,000–400,000 per ton (approx. RMB 1,410–1,880/ton) starting May 1.

Chemours

Will hike prices of all grades of Ti-Pure™ titanium dioxide (for plastics) in the Asia-Pacific region by USD 250 per ton (approx. RMB 1,703/ton) starting June 1.
